Use it
- Get startedMason is a native Mac app for people who build with coding agents. You install it and work. There is nothing to fill in and no account to make.
- What you seeMason has three surfaces: the island in the menu bar, the panel under it, and the app window.
- What it reads, sends and keepsMason watches the work, not the screen. The memory is built on your Mac and stays there.
- Models and voiceMason is not tied to one model. Watching, counting, the look back, Flow and Days are plain code and need none.
- Agents and MCPMason reads the logs your coding agents keep, and gives what it learned back to them.
- Share and try workflowsA workflow is how someone works with coding agents, measured and not told: who they talk to, at what pace, how long an agent works on one thing, and what they tell their agents again and again.
Look it up
- Settings and configurationNothing here is needed to get started: every setting has a default that works. This page lists all of them.
- When something is offThe short list of what goes wrong, and what mends it. If yours is not here, open an issue.
The project
- How it is put togetherMason is a small native shell around a local server. The shell is Swift, the server is Node with no dependencies, and every screen is a web page the shell shows in its own windows.
- ContributingMason is one person's tool that others are welcome to use, copy and improve. Two kinds of contribution are expected: a workflow for the collection, and a change to the code.
- SecurityMason reads what you said to your coding agents and watches which app is in front. It is built so that this stays on your Mac and so that nobody else can steer it.
- Code of conductThis project follows the Contributor Covenant, version 2.1. The short form is below; the full text at that address is what holds.
- What the films say, and where it is trueEvery claim in the technical walkthrough, with the code it rests on and the test that checks it. Run the tests with cd apprentice && npm test: the file is test/claims.test.mjs.
